ZIMBABWE delayed the release of the latest inflation figures yesterday amid reports that the annual rate had soared to an astonishing 15,000 per cent in October - almost double the September rate.

Officials at the Central Statistical Office said the data might not be available 'for a while', a statement seen as an indication that President Robert Mugabe's government had failed in its latest attempt to slow runaway prices.
